We know from experience that translation of great science and technology propositions to real world impact is not an easy journey. It can be long and complex with multiple paths to market and high barriers to entry. And it's extra difficult to go it alone. ON exists to address that challenge by connecting research teams to the partners, customers and funders who can help make it happen. But we also know that support must extend beyond the 'life' of the accelerator experience itself (ON Prime, ON Accelerate or ON Connect).

Those ON teams who succeed in achieving breakthrough for their science or tech credit strong connections to other entrepreneurs, scientists and experts who have been there and done it before. To thrive, ON team members need fresh perspectives, access to new advice and guidance and positive reinforcement around the journey toward breakthrough being 'worth it'.

That's why we have created ON Tribe Forum – a single two-day event that will bring these parties and perspectives together in Sydney this October– re-connecting more than 170 research teams (300+ researchers) who have been through an ON experience with a fresh pool of potential investors, business and commercialisation partners and experts who can help them complete the journey.

A very special event

What stands ON Tribe apart from the individual accelerator experiences like ON Prime and ON Accelerate, is that the ON Tribe Forum is open to all ON Alumni (graduate teams), mentors, facilitators and program supporters within ON partner institutes.

Our ON Tribe Forum will deliver a carefully curated program of:

  • Inspiration - Amazing science leaders who have 'been there and done it before' in achieving breakthrough for their tech – sharing insight with ON Teams.
  • Vital Connections – An introduction to Australia's top investors in sci-tech innovation talking about the 'how's and what's' of seeking partnerships or funding.
  • Advice and Insights – from successful Australian entrepreneurs, inventors and innovators all of whom have committed their time to help our teams further the knowledge and connections they require to achieve breakthrough.

For some of our teams, the power of these stories could mean the difference between a shelved innovation or a big breakthrough.

Delivering our innovation commitment together

The speakers, experts and panellists who have committed their time to share firsthand experience, stories and lessons with our ON teams are doing so because they share CSIRO's vision for Australian innovation and see the genuine outcomes that a program like ON can deliver.

ON Tribe and associated events and experiences are a key deliverable of the ON accelerator program, supported by funds from the National Innovation and Science Agenda. The outcomes of ON are just one of the ways we help deliver CSIRO's commitment as the nation's innovation catalyst.

Giving thanks

ON Tribe Forum also provides an opportunity for us to acknowledge and thank the more than 150 strong national ON Mentor Network for their ongoing support and investment (donations of time, relationships and expertise) in our accelerator teams over the last 18 months.

To all our ON Alumni and supporters, see you there in October – can't wait to bring it ON!
