We are so pleased to be named as this year's recipient at Tuesday's celebration in Canberra, receiving the CSIRO Medal for Support Excellence.

This award culminates in what has been our most successful year to date, reaching major milestones within our program and our 2017 Public Service Innovation Award.

The CSIRO Support Excellence Award recognises teams who support, through projects, initiatives or service delivery, the creation of value for CSIRO through innovation that delivers positive impact for Australia.

Attending the prestigious ceremony was Senator Linda Reynolds CSC, with Dr Larry Marshall, CSIRO CE and other eminent CSIRO guests.

Dr Steve Brodie accepted the award on behalf of the ON team, thanking them and recognising the hard work and dedication of ON staff to get the ON experience to where it is today. He noted the absence of key team members at the ceremony, as they were preparing for the ON Accelerate selection Bootcamp.

Surrounded by past and present ON supporters and team members, Steve said "The initial team, some of whom are in the room today, designed, built and implemented the Lean Launch Pad program at CSIRO. They then launched ON Accelerate for CSIRO teams. With support from the National Innovation and Science Agenda we began offering the ON programs to all publicly funded research organisations and now have 30 universities as partners in the ON program."

"This determination to develop, implement, promote and serve a national program to researchers of Australia has been done with the greatest of efforts and dedication, and we see this reflected in the quality of the experience that our participating researchers enjoy."

He continued, "When I think about the early days of ON, I'm really impressed with the way CSIRO, and the team, applied lean innovation principles to lean innovation itself, to build, measure and learn. We continue to apply lean innovation principles in everything we do."

Dr Brodie said "We are so pleased that the ON team is considered amongst CSIRO's best – it's a real honour to receive today's award. On behalf of the ON team I'd also like to say big thank you to CSIRO and to NISA. He finished, saying, "I would especially like to thank the dedicated researchers who work so hard to help us all create a better future."
