CSIRO's research to business collaboration expertise took another leap forward recently with the commencement of Dr Elizabeth Eastland as General Manager, Strategy, Market Vision & Innovation.
Elizabeth joins CSIRO from the University of Wollongong (UoW) where she was the Director of Innovation and Commercial Research and the Founder and CEO of the UoW's highly successful iAccelerate program. As part of her new role she will be responsible for setting the direction for the ON Accelerator, powered by CSIRO.
"There is no doubt Australia has an enviable pipeline of great sci-tech research and innovation, but we can achieve more if we work together to fast-track that excellent science into commercially viable opportunities," Elizabeth said.
"That's the role I see for the ON accelerator. To create stronger connections between researchers and commercialisation partners, to increase our entrepreneurial capacity and to ensure the brightest ideas are not only realised, but flourish on the world stage."
To date the ON Accelerator has received more than 200 applications for entry and resulted in commercial outcomes ranging from more convenient, easily accessible cardiac rehabilitation tools to ultra-low gluten free barley products, recently adopted by German brewing company Radeberger to deliver the world's first gluten-free beer.
Applications for ON Prime, a national pre-accelerator powered by CSIRO are now open - apply today to take part in shaping Australia's future.
