Steve Brodie

Executive Manager Innovation, Dr Steve Brodie is one of Australia’s most well respected research commercialisation specialists. Steve brings more than 20 years’ experience in research and development, commercialisation and open innovation, fostering incredible relationships for ON. Steve’s no slouch when it comes to sci-tech research and development himself, having designed a new high-temperature vibration sensor for use in rocket and jet engines while at the Ferroperm Piezoceramics in Denmark. We like to consider him our resident rocket scientist.

David Burt

New Ventures Manager, David Burt, first joined CSIRO’s Strategy team in 2012 before helping to design, found and scale the ON Program back in January 2015. David’s role within ON is varied, working as a designer, facilitator and coach across both ON Prime and ON Accelerate programs. Over the last three years David has helped teams in every domain of science and in every scale - not many people work across both nanotechnology and astronomy – and keeps close watch of ON alumni, helping them along the path to success in creating new business ventures based on their technology and research. Outside of ON, David sits on the board of Planet Ark as a Non-Executive Director and teaches strategy and innovation at the University of Sydney.

Kate Hines

Kate Hines has been with CSIRO and the ON team since July 2015, and is the program’s Innovation Experience Manager. A senior communications professional, Kate began her tenure at ON in the ‘comms’ team, before honing her talents on the complex delivery of the program itself. Complex programs that deliver meaningful change are what makes Kate tick, which means Kate’s found her niche here at ON. She is an integral part of the team, responsible for all things related to the design, delivery and user experience of ON’s accelerators, workshops and events. A self-declared ‘V8 bogan’, Kate loves her motorsport, and racing competitively in triathlons.

Having joined the team in January 2017, Alisa Becker is ON’s Relationship Manager for the areas of New South Wales, Queensland and Northern Territory, and is responsible for engaging with and striking up new partnerships with organisations within Australia’s research ecosystem, such as universities and research institutes. Alisa is passionate about research and innovation – she is a chemist by training with a PhD in Chemical and Biomolecular engineering from the University of Melbourne – and loves that the ON program provides a framework to achieving impact in science and technology; pushing research as far as it can go!

Having joined the team in January 2017, Cameron is responsible for engaging and procuring new partnerships with organisations within Australia’s research ecosystem, such as universities and research institutes. Working for ON, Cam relishes the opportunity he has to engage with and encourage universities - and their developing research teams - to get ‘ON’ board, meeting new people and networking across the country. Cameron’s history in innovation goes way back to his time at university, where he was part of a team that won QUT’s inaugural innovation competition for the design of a novel orthopaedic tool.

Karen Li

Joining the program in April 2016, Karen Li is the ON team’s Prime Experience Manager, which has her in command of the ON program’s part-time pre-accelerator: ON Prime. Karen’s role sees her at the helm of ON Prime’s content and delivery, coordinating its numerous nation-wide sessions, overseeing communications and directing its skilled army of facilitators. Like all of ON Prime’s participants, Karen is passionate about making a difference within the innovation community and contributing to the future of Australian science and technology. A self-confessed sweet tooth, Karen’s hobbies include playing piano and building her collection of succulents and cacti.

Responsible for ON’s digital strategies along with creating and managing the team’s communications, marketing, media and social; Jess relishes her role and is honoured to share the stories of the incredible innovators who pass through ON with the entire nation. Jess is a massive metalhead, with a huge collection of band t-shirts, records and ticket stubs; and spent the preceding five years before her tenure at ON living and working in Manchester UK under the guise of a true northern lass. You can find Jess at the helm of the @ONaccelerator social.
