Applying for ON Accelerate is a three stage process:
Step 1: Your online application
All applications for ON Accelerate are to be submitted via our online portal using the email address of your research institute (PFRA).
Access to the online portal will be provided when the next applications period opens.
The application form will ask you to complete questions regarding your proposition, the challenge it addresses, whether you have validated this challenge and the market opportunity for your solution. You will also be asked for details on your team size and members.
To complete your application you will be asked to submit a Business Model Canvas, a team information sheet plus an optional short video of you and your team explaining your idea. Details regarding each of these items including templates and tips are made available in the ON Application portal.
Step 2: Validation and evaluation
At the closure of the application period, all applications will be validated by their sponsoring institute prior to progressing to the evaluation stage. This is to ensure that each team has engaged their sponsoring institute and has full support to participate in the program.
Applications are then evaluated by a team of external experts in research, commercialisation and investment, against the following key criteria:
- evidence of impact potential and market opportunity
- competitive strength (Technology Readiness Level, Investment Readiness Level & IP position - see eligibility for more info)
- team strength (diversity, ability to be coached, multidisciplinary, cross-organisation)
- evidence of traction relevant to the program being applied for.
Step 3: Selection Bootcamp
A shortlist of teams will be invited to attend a two-day Selection Bootcamp, where they will gain a preview of the ON Accelerate experience and work with ON mentors via a series of masterclasses to test learning velocity and coach-ability.
Bootcamp concludes in a pitch to an external panel, and the feedback from mentors and pitch-judging is combined to select the ON Accelerate cohort of up to 10 teams.
Applicants who do not successfully progress to Bootcamp will be provided with access to detailed feedback from the evaluation process to help them refine and continue to work on their sci-tech ideas.
